City Judge Sherry Paty on Thursday ordered David Allen Shore to pay his neighbor's $1,074.69 vet bill after a dog attack.

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Kitchen testified that Mr. Shore's two German Shepherds attacked their dog Ginger last month. They said Ginger had so many bites on her that the vet had to shave her to find them all.

Judge Paty said if Mr. Shore wants to keep the two dogs he must insure that they don't get out again. He also must complete two obedience classes and get potentially dangerous dog tags from the McKamey Center. The Kitchens couple said they heard Ginger barking, then saw the German Shepherds running away after the "horrific" attack.

Mrs. Kitchen said the couple previously had a shitzu and it disappeared just before Christmas. She said they were called and told it had wound up on the Shore property with its throat cut.Mr. Shore said he does not believe his dogs killed the shitzu, but just brought it home after finding it dead.

Mr. Kitchen said the couple has a nine-year-old son "and we are afraid to let him out in the yard."He said the two dogs were seen running loose the next day after the McKamey Center came and got them. Mr. Shore went to the center and got them back within two hours.A McKamey officer said the dogs were not vicious toward her.Mr. Shore said they play rough with one another, but they otherwise are "the gentlest dogs in all the world."He said he has already bought fence materials and is working on keeping them within his five-acre property. He said of the attack on Ginger, "I am an animal person. This makes me sick. I had no idea."
