A 3-week-old baby was dragged from a bed Monday afternoon by her family's Siberian husky and mauled to death in Bourbonnais.

Olivia Rozek was lying on a bed in the master bedroom of the home at 1614 Sun Ridge Dr. in Bourbonnais, about 30 miles south of Joliet, when she was taken from the bed by the family dog and dragged into a hallway.

The child's mother, hearing her daughter's cries, discovered the baby in the dog's grip, a release from Bourbonnais police said. Police got a 911 call at 5:45 p.m. reporting the attack.

Olivia was taken to a Kankakee hospital, then airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where she was pronounced dead at 11:55 p.m. Monday, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

An autopsy Wednesday found the girl died from craniocerebral injuries from dog bites and her death was ruled accidental.

Olivia suffered multiple bite injuries to the head, the release said. The Siberian husky was removed from the home without incident by Kankakee County Animal Control officers. It remains impounded.
